On Anzac Day, ceremonies are held in towns and cities across the nation to remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

My 5am dawn service we battled the rain and high winds 4 hours later were experiencing flash flooding but i'm use to it raining every year - I think all the our war hero's that are angles are crying today that we're remembering them all

At the going down of the sun we will remember them not just today but everyday.

Lest We Forget !

At the going down of the sun...

I crouched in a shallow trench on that hell of exposed beaches... steeply rising foothills bare of cover... a landscape pockmarked with war’s inevitable litter... piles of stores... equipment... ammunition... and the weird contortions of death sculptured in Australian flesh... I saw the going down of the sun on that first ANZAC Day... the chaotic maelstrom of Australia’s blooding.

I fought in the frozen mud of the Somme... in a blazing destroyer exploding on the North Sea... I fought on the perimeter at Tobruk... crashed in the flaming wreckage of a fighter in New Guinea... lived with the damned in the place cursed with the name Changi.

I was your mate... the kid across the street... the med. student at graduation... the mechanic in the corner garage... the baker who brought you bread... the gardener who cut your lawn... the clerk who sent your phone bill.

I was an Army private... a Naval commander... an Air Force bombardier. no man knows me... no name marks my tomb, for I am every Australian serviceman... I am the Unknown Soldier.

I died for a cause I held just in the service of my land... that you and yours may say in freedom... I am proud to be an Australian.

Its Remembrance day the same thing but for us Aussies its called Anzac day

ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

On the 25th of April 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. These became know as Anzacs and the pride they took in that name continues to this day.

i was only 19 in 1983 as well -- all my childhood from time i was born until 1973 all i heard on telly was the Vietnam war for 9 yrs it was hard to understand as a kid why they were fighting and trying to understand what they were fighting for and even now at age 49 i still don't think i can grasp any of it.

so today i feel like playing songs to remember all our diggers.

Just another stupid war where over 900 people lost their lives in a 74 day conflict - a ten-week war between Argentina and the United Kingdom over two British overseas territories in the South Atlantic - I remember it well glad you Brits handled that one all on ya own.

War is a good indicator of the intellectual progress of the human race.

Getting better but we're not there yet

It's normally the mad tyrants who cause the wars to start,Hitler,Saddam Hussein,Bin Laden are examples, the idiot in charge of South Korea ,the idiot in charge of Syria and Putin are the new dangers
