our lakes are salt water where i live and yes bull sharks come in there and if your not scared of sharks - the pelican itch stops ya from going in for a dip

i'd have to drive up to mums to get to a fresh water lake and the last time i did that i went under water and look eye to eye with a eel so my lake swimming days are over.

the thing is with australia its girt by sea - every fresh water lake connects with a salt water and sharks do come in just to keep ya o ya toes and to be in warmer waters
Fears over bull sharks in Lake Macquarie

THE appearance of a 2.4-metre bull shark in Lake Macquarie has raised fears that an attack could be imminent as sightings of the creatures increase.

Facts about bull sharks

Male bull sharks reach sizes up to 2.9 metres while females grow to 3.2 metres.

They are considered one of the species most dangerous to humans.

They are highly aggressive and known to attack humans. The attacks are similar to pit-bulls, with multiple bites and head shaking to remove tissue.

They are able to survive in fresh and salt water.

Bull sharks prefer shallows.

They are opportunistic feeders that eat bony fish, smaller sharks, carrion, mammals, birds and even garbage.
^^^ and they eat people ^^ they forgot to mention that ^^

Its good to be educated in case you decide to come to Australia and think our waters are safe.

But Yummy, what do you mean when to and when not to? They don't just appear strictly within set hours. And while you may comment on their habits as to time of day, year, temperature or whatever, how can you guarantee there are none around?
