I have a "diary" (WP) file for each hive (have only one). I type the information recorded when time permits, and review it often.
A written outline of question or information desired would be helpful to take (or review) to the hive, as a reminder.
Best way to "number" your hive, is marking your hive stand. The stand may be the only pc of equipment thats not shifted from one hive to another.
